Under the Milky Ways and Musketeers

There was a big bowl of mini-Mars Halloween candy treats at our front desk today. All the Twix,M&M's, and Snickers bars were gone before lunchtime, but most of the Milky Ways and 3 Musketeers are still unclaimed at the end of the day.

Does anyone like 3 Musketeers and Milky Ways? They're like the unwanted stepchildren of the Mars empire. Twix bars have that cookie crunch, Snickers have peanuts, and Mars bars have almonds, but Milky Ways and 3 Muskys are just big blobs of nougat and caramel that stick to your teeth. They're what's left over after you've already eaten all the good stuff from your Mars fun size variety pack.

In other Halloween news, it looks like today's Family Circus violates this year's "no Sarah Palin costumes allowed" rule by having Dolly dressed up as you-know-who. Someone in our building today was dressed like Ashley Todd . Hey, last week called -- they want their Halloween costume back!

Joe loves 3 Musketeers, but he doesn't like candy bars with nuts. I suspect most people who enjoy nuts would put 3M in the bottom tier of candy bars.

Milky Way is one of my all-time favorites. It's not as good as Heath or $100,000 Bar (unfortunately rebranded as "100 Grand") but it's yum. 3 Musketeers is pretty good too. My kids' take tonight was heavy on the Reese's Cups, which pleases Andy as he loves 'em and neither B nor J are interested. More stats from our trick-or-treating:
* ONLY full-size item received: roll of SweeTarts
* J's endurance: 1.25 hours (friend Amirah's endurance: 1.28 hours)
* Sarah Palins spotted: 0
* Napoleon Dynamites spotted: 1
* # of Obama yard signs: nearly countless
* % of Obama-supporting households participating in trick-or-treat: appr. 100%
* # of McCain yard signs: 3, of which 2 at same house (on corner lot)
* # of McCain-supporting households participating in trick-or-treat: 50% (I made a modestly clever crack in front of the dark-porched McCain house, about redistribution of candy, that my friend Ruth [Amirah's mom] thought was funnier than it really was, bless her).

3 Musketeers and Milky Way bars: a nougat fan's dream team. I like 'em both!

As for trick-or-treating stats: my niece and nephew live nearby a guy in a spooky ol' mansion (seriously) who gave out those really big (12 oz?) Hersheys bars. Apparently people were commuting to their neighborhood to get in on this unprecedented H'ween bounty!

Count me in on the 3 Musketeers Love. They taste good and they're more healthy than most candy bars. Low fat. My girlfriend won't touch 'em though. I can't remember the last time I even had a Milky Way, so I don't know what they taste like.

I'm neutral on nuts in candy. Coconut, however, should be banned.

My favorite is Reese's PB cups, even though I don't like peanut butter by itself.
