RIP John Stewart 1939-2008
Probably most famous for writing this song, but he wrote many more during his 50 year career that included replacing Dave Guard in the Kingston Trio from 1961-1967 and taking this song to the US Top Ten in 1979, with some help from Stevie and Lindsey.

I just remembered the line from this song about his buddy Jim Bass who was pumping gas and makes $2.50 an hour. I had my first job in the summer of '79 for $3/hr when the CA state minimum wage was $2.90/hr. Jim Bass should have reported his cheapskate boss to the authorities!
