Away From The Numbers

Missing the From The Jam show tonight, because I'm just too tired. I've been trying to reconcile my company's numbers across the various systems for the last few weeks, so I've had numbers on my brain this whole month.

I'm also finally reaching the end of the listening to all songs on my iPod in alphabetical order, which comes to all the songs that start with numbers. The songs are sorted alphamerically, which is confusing for songs that start with numbers. I don't understand why "1,000,000" by R.E.M. comes before all the 10 songs or why numbers come after letters in the iTunes sequence when they used to come before them.

In any case, here are all the songs on my iPod that start with numbers.
  1. 1 1/2 Way Street - Mitch Easter
  2. 1,000,000 - R.E.M.

  2. 1 2 Xmas U - Monkey Typing Pool

I used to have this, but I scrubbed the christmas songs off my iPod last week.

  3. A little note on Christmas songs: my system for dealing with all the downloadable songs I find in my usual internet ramblings is to assemble them into 20-track playlists, which (so far) I then put in a folder until there are enough songs to fill a CD-R (i.e., just short of 700MB). I don't often listen to stuff until I burn the CD, which then becomes my car listening. Typically, I burn a new disc about every 10-12 days - so there's a delay of sorts. There were a large number of Christmas songs still showing up in my car listening clear until about a week ago - I think I probably have about a disc and a half of "new" Christmas songs this year, without even trying. And that's not counting dedicated Christmas compilations, such as your own.

Anyway, I will refrain from using this post as yet another venue for plugging my very own version of "1 2 X U," reversioned for Christmas under the title "1 2 Xmas U" and available at my website. I just won't do such blatant self-promotion any more.
